Helen Topp's good name is tarnished when Keira Bell spreads false accusations. Many people, including her fiancé Lucas Ford, lose faith in Helen. She tries to reason with them but Lucas, swayed by Keira's deceit, chooses to end their engagement. Heartbroken, Helen retreats home only to be drugged by Keira. The scheming Keira then stages the scene making it appear as though Helen attempted self-harm.
